TEMPUS
Inspired by the novel Einstein’s Dreams by Alan Lightman,TEMPUS was a groundbreaking collaboration between The Sea to Sky Dance Collective and talented hard-of-hearing composer, Michael K.Hewitt, director of the newly formed Create-Able Arts Society, which supports artists with disabilities. TEMPUS marked the fourth production that Michael and the Collective had worked together on and offered audiences an evocative journey through sound and motion unlike what they had experienced before.
TEMPUS intertwined original music and dynamic contemporary dance choreography to explore how humans experience time—through stillness, motion, and connection. Each piece in TEMPUS was a glimpse into a different imagined world, with its own version of time, where it could flow slowly, race, loop endlessly, split or stand still. These were not scientific theories, but emotional truths—Explorations of how human lives are shaped by the nature of time.
$8000.00 in proceeds were donated to the Sea to Sky Hospice Society, whose work honours time in its most profound form—by accompanying individuals and families through life’s final transitions with grace, presence, and dignity. In a world where time behaves unpredictably—compassion, art, and connection remain constants.
