RHYTHMS
RHYTHMS (May 2024) was the Sea to Sky Dance Collective’s third benefit production. We showcased a collaborative live music and dance performance which explored rhythms in music, rhythms in the body, and rhythms in nature. We endeavored to share our love of performance art and inspire our community to get involved in dance or music education.
$8000.00 in proceeds from RHYTHMS were donated to CAMPS (Community Access Music Project Society ), a local organization that offers full and partial bursaries to anyone who is a resident of the Sea to Sky Corridor and would like to participate in music lessons or music therapy sessions. CAMPS strives to make music education accessible for everyone in the Sea to Sky, regardless of social or economic circumstance or barriers.
RHYTHMS was directed and produced by Dayna Goldman and Erica Otto. We are grateful to the talented musicians Amir Fishman, Sandra Ashmore, Barb Cooke and Blue Mountain Beatbox, who were all a joy to collaborate with. This was the first performance in which original music was created for the collective. Dancers and musicians alike challenged themselves with the thrill of dancing to live music throughout this production.
A special thank you to our incredible lighting designer, Michael K. Hewitt, sound technician Brian Marchant, backstage manager Emily Kociolek, and wonderful volunteers for helping us bring this production to life.
